Sammy Baloji installation at Lyon Biennale & Palais de Tokyo

Scenography for an installation by Sammy Baloji at the Lyon Biennale, ‘La vie moderne’, sept 2015 // Restaged in the exhibition ‘Dioramas’ at the Palais de Tokyo, Paris, june 2017.

The structure is the reproduction of a vitrine for a diorama at the Tervuren Museum (image1). But it refers also to the form of diamonds (image5). On the wall is the list of ONG in Nord Kivu at the moment. The project is about hunting and collecting and mixes pictures, documentation collected for dioramas in museums, pictures of hunters in Congo at the colonial time, with their trophies, and a diary by a hunter in Congo on which Baloji has added contemporary images.
