[Cosmo city / le lieu de l’installation – Cosmo city / the place of the installation]
Je partage avec Sello Pesa l’idée que l’art doit être aussi constamment public que possible et visible pour tout le monde – n’importe qui ; ce qui signifie, dans « l’espace public » [même si la notion est problématique]. A Cosmo city on pourrait dire « extérieur », car je ne suis pas sûr qu’il y ait une idée « d’espace public » dans la conception de ce quartier [mais il y en a une dans la façon dont les gens sont là, dans les rues, etc.]. Le festival Inhouse y met en scène, ainsi qu’à Alexandra & Soweto, une série de performances/installations. Cela me semble logique d’être impliqué dans un tel projet, comme « s’échapper » des cadres « culturels » [la scène, la galerie, l’institution, etc.] – et « créer » [humblement] des espaces ouverts – la plupart du temps des moments – permettant à chacun de vivre un processus de création, est au centre de mon travail, en tant que scénographe et artiste [c’est l’origine du projet Urban Scénos].
Dans Cosmo nous avons mis en scène les écrans mais il n’y avait pas de courant au moment de la présentation. Le lendemain ça s’est bien passé à Alexandra. Quelques images du moment à Alexandra [photos de Simon Fidelis Jr].

I share with Sello Pesa the idea art should be as constantly public as possible, and visible for everyone – anyone; means, in ‘public space’ [even though the notion is problematic]. In Cosmo city we could say ‘outdoor’, as I’m not shure there is an idea of ‘public space’ in the conception of this neighborhood [but there is one in the way people are there, in streets, etc.]. The Inhouse festival stages there, and in Alexandra & Soweto, a series of performances / installations. It makes sense to me to be involved in such a project, as ‘escaping’ from the ‘cultural’ frames [the stage, the gallery, the institution, etc.] – and ‘create’ [humbly] open spaces – which are most of the time moments – for everyone to experience a creation process, is central in my work, as scenographer and as artist [this is at the origin of the Urban Scénos project].
