Miniatures est l’aboutissement d’un long processus, entamé en 1994, grâce à un partenariat entre l’ISTS d’Avignon et l’Ecole de Théâtre de Damas [ISAD]. Après un premier atelier scénographique, nous avons mis en place la production d’une pièce syrienne contemporaine. Naila El Attrach contactée, choisit un texte de Saadallah Wannous, Miniatures. Le projet démarre avec les élèves de l’école de théâtre de Damas, en février 1995. Pour des raisons politiques, il est interrompu. Il redémarre en 1997, Wannous est décédé entre-temps, et le projet devient une sorte de spectacle officiel à la forteresse de Damas, ré-ouverte pour l’occasion au public – elle fut longtemps une prison politique. Nous jouons juste devant l’Iwan de Salahdin.

Minitatures took place at the end of a long process, who began in 1994, via a partnership between the ISTS in Avignon and the Damascus Theater School [ISAD]. After a first scenographic workshop, the project of a contemporary syrian production for theater came up. Naila El Attrach decided to choose a Saadallah Wannous text, Miniatures. The project began with the students of Damascus Theater School, in february 1995. For political reasons it was interrupted. It rbegan again in 1997, Wannous had passed in the meantime, and the project becames kind of an official performance at the Damascus fortress, which was reoppened fot the occasion to the audience as it was for a long time a political prison. We were performing just in front of Salahdin’s Iwan.
